Turkey's daily power consumption breaks new record on July 1

- Daily electricity consumption of 1.048 million megawatt-hours on Thursday smashes Wednesday's record high

Turkey's daily electricity consumption increased by 0.6% to 1.048 million megawatt-hours on Thursday compared to the previous day, breaking the previous day's record high, according to official figures of the Turkish Electricity Transmission Corporation (TEIAS) on Friday.

As temperatures continue to rise and electricity demand increases throughout the country, the all-time record in consumption was broken with 1.041 million megawatt-hours on Wednesday.

Hourly power consumption peaked at 50,908 megawatt-hours at 15.00 local time, data from TEIAS showed. The country's electricity usage dropped to its lowest level of 33,944 megawatt-hours at 06.00 local time.

Electricity production amounted to 1.05 million megawatt-hours on Thursday, marking a 0.6% increase from Wednesday.

Turkey's electricity production from natural gas plants constituted 34.8% of total electricity consumption, hydroelectricity powerplants held a 21.9% share while imported coal plants comprised 16%.

On Thursday, Turkey's electricity exports amounted to 15,856 megawatt-hours, while imports totaled 4,695 megawatt-hours.
