Turkey's energy import bill falls 15% in October 2019

- Country's crude oil imports increase by 48% in October 2019 compared to same month last year

Turkey's energy import bill decreased by 15% to $3.2 billion in October compared to the same month of 2018, according to data released by the Turkish Statistical Institute on Friday.

The data shows that Turkey's overall import bill, including energy and other items, totaled $17.47 billion in October, with energy accounting for 5.9%.

Although the overall energy import bill fell last month, the country increased its crude oil purchases.

The country's crude oil imports showed a 48% rise over the same period compared to October 2018.

Turkey imported approximately 3 million tons of crude oil last month, up from 2.03 million tons during the same period of 2018.
