Turkish firm Karpowership resumes power supply to Guinea-Bissau

- Guinea-Bissau makes $6 million in part payment of debt totaling $15 million for electricity generation and supply from Karpowership

T眉rkiye's Karpowership, a floating power plant owned by Karadeniz Holding, resumed electricity generation in the capital of Guinea-Bissau on Wednesday afternoon after resolving a payment dispute with the African country, the company announced on Thursday.

The country鈥檚 Economy Minister, Suleimane Seidi, said Wednesday that $6 million was paid by the Electricity and Water Company of Guinea-Bissau out of its arrears of $15 million.

Karpowership said electricity supply to Guinea-Bissau had been halted for 1.5 days and resumed on Wednesday afternoon.

Karpowership, a Turkish builder, operator, and owner of a fleet of powerships, started operating in Guinea-Bissau in 2019 and has been supplying 100% of Guinea-Bissau鈥檚 total electricity needs.
