Turkey's energy import bill falls 11.7% in September 2019

- Country's crude oil imports increases by 30% in September 2019 compared to same month last year

Turkey's energy import bill decreased by 11.7% to $3.26 billion in September compared to the same month of 2018, according to data released by the Turkish Statistical Institute on Thursday.

The data shows that Turkey's overall import bill, including energy and other items, totaled $16.49 billion in September, with energy accounting for 19.76%.

Although the overall energy import bill fell last month, the country increased its crude oil purchases.

The country's crude oil imports showed a 30% rise over the same period compared to September 2018.

Turkey imported approximately 2.69 million tons of crude oil last month, up from 2.07 million tons during the same period in 2018.
