Siemens Gamesa has launched the world's first wind turbine blade that can be recycled at the end of its lifecycle, the company announced on Tuesday.

According to Siemens, this is a crucial step towards the company's ambitious goal to make turbines fully recyclable by 2040.

The first six 81-meter long 鈥楻ecyclableBlades鈥 have been produced at the Siemens Gamesa blade factory in Aalborg, Denmark.

Commenting on the product, Andreas Nauen, CEO of Siemens Gamesa said it is time to tackle the climate emergency, which the company is doing in a holistic way through the production of this recyclable blade.

"In pioneering wind circularity 鈥 where elements contribute to a circular economy of the wind industry 鈥 we have reached a major milestone in a society that puts care for the environment at its heart," he said, adding that the 鈥楻ecyclableBlade鈥 is another tangible example of how Siemens Gamesa is leading technological development in the wind industry.
