The U.S. stock market opened mixed on Friday.
The Dow Jones fell 38 points to begin the last trading day of the week at 22,342 points.
The S&P 500 rose less than one point to open flat at 2,510 points, and the Nasdaq added 16 points to start the day at 6,469 points.
Personal spending in August rose 0.1 percent, while personal income climbed 0.2 percent, both in line with market expectations, the Commerce Department announced earlier.
