Vestas wins 201-megawatt wind order in China

-Project delivery expected in third quarter of 2020

Vestas received a 201-megawatt wind turbine order for two projects in China, the company announced Wednesday.

The order includes the supply of 61 turbines and towers as well as a five-year active output management service contract.

Project delivery is expected to be in the third quarter of 2020, with commissioning in the same quarter.

Vestas said the global demand for sustainable energy solutions optimized for low and ultra-low wind conditions is growing as renewable technology improves in efficiency, making more sites viable for wind energy.

"This trend is especially prominent in the world鈥檚 largest wind energy market, China, where the wind industry at the same time is facing an increasingly competitive business environment with the transition to grid parity pricing and a more decentralized energy infrastructure with distributed wind projects," it said.

The customer and the name of the projects are undisclosed at the customer鈥檚 request.
