Turkey's energy import bill falls 5.5% in August 2019

- Country's crude oil imports increases by 46.1% in August 2019 compared to same month last year

Turkey's energy import bill decreased by 5.5% to $3.28 billion in August compared to the same month of 2018, according to data released by the Turkish Statistical Institute on Monday.

The data shows that Turkey's overall import bill, including energy and other items, totaled $15.24 billion in August, with energy accounting for 21.8%.

While the overall energy import bill fell last month, the country increased its crude oil purchases.

Turkey imported approximately 3.44 million tons of crude oil last month, up from 2.08 million tons during the same period in 2018.

The country's crude oil imports showed a 46.1% rise over the same period compared to August 2018.
