Oil prices slide amid trade war concerns

- International benchmark Brent crude fell 3.29 percent, briefly reaching $67.51 per barrel on Tuesday

Crude oil prices posted their biggest fall in two weeks with trade war concerns between the U.S. and China.

International benchmark Brent crude fell 3.29 percent, briefly reaching $67.51 per barrel on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, American benchmark West Texas Intermediate (WTI) lost 3.5 percent Tuesday, and retreated to $62.9 a barrel.

China announced on April 1 that it had begun imposing tariffs of 15 to 25 percent on 128 U.S. products in a move seen as retaliation against Trump's increased tariffs on imports of steel, aluminum and some other Chinese exports.

Beijing鈥檚 quick response suggested that tensions between the world's two biggest economies could pave the way for a trade war and spill over to other countries in Asia that the two countries have close ties with.

Ongoing effect of the low oil rig datas from last week reincreased both benchmarks, WTI increased by 0.63 percent to $63.2 a barrel and Brent crude increase by 0.77 percent to $68 a barrel at 10.15 GMT+3.

Last week, the number of oil rigs in the U.S. declined for the second time in the past 10 weeks, according to oilfield services company Baker Hughes data.
