Turkey's liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) imports increased by 23.7% to 224,912 tonnes in April compared to the same month of 2020, according to the latest data from the country's energy watchdog.
The Energy Market Regulatory Authority's (EMRA) data showed that Turkey's imports came from Algeria, Norway, the US, Kazakhstan and Holland.
Turkey's LPG production in April rose to 83,772 tonnes, marking a year-on-year jump of 35.3%.
The increase in LPG imports and production in April this year compared to April last year reflects the slowdown after the first reported coronavirus case in Turkey in March last year when the country announced a country-wide lockdown which slowed down economic activity.
However, exports saw a decrease of 53.4% to 6,709 tonnes in April from 14,403 tonnes in April 2020.
Total LPG sales in April increased by 19.6% to around 285,572 tonnes, comprising 220,961 tonnes of autogas, 56,387 tonnes of bottled LPG, and 8,224 tonnes of bulk LPG.
