BP awards contracts for its $12 billion LNG project

- British Petroleum awarded the onshore FEED contracts for its $12 billion Tangguh LNG expansion project to two consortiums in Indonesia

Energy giant British Petroleum听announced on Wednesday that it awarded the onshore听front end engineering and design contracts听for its听$12 billion Tangguh LNG expansion project to two consortiums in Indonesia.听

The first consortium is听PT. Tripatra Engineers and Constructors, PT. Tripatra Engineering, PT. Chiyoda International Indonesia, PT. Saipem Indonesia, PT. Suluh Ardhi Engineering and Chiyoda Corporation Consortium. The second consortium includes, PT. Rekayasa Industri, JGC Corporation, PT. KBR Indonesia and PT. JGC Indonesia.

The project, located in Teluk Bintuni Regency in Papua Barat province of Indonesia, will add 3.8 million tons (5.24 billion cubic meters) per annum听liquefaction capacity to Tangguh, bringing a total capacity to 11.4 (15.7 billion cubic meters), said the company statement.听

British Petroleum, BP,听and the Tangguh partners also signed a sales and purchase agreement with Indonesia鈥檚 state-owned electricity company to supply up to 1.5 million tons (2 billion cubic meters) of LNG听each year from 2015 to 2033, said the statement.听听

"The awarding of the onshore FEED contracts and signing of the sales and purchase agreement听are major accomplishments, which demonstrate progress for the Tangguh Expansion Project that will听deliver much needed energy to Indonesia,鈥� said Bob Dudley, BP Group Chief Executive, according to the announcement.听
