Petrol stations should have service competency certs

- EMRA: Petrol stations should have service competency certificates

Turkish Energy Market Regulatory Authority聽proposed on Friday that聽petrol stations in Turkey should hold聽service competency聽certificates as a precondition for licensing.

Baris Sanli, head of the liquefied petroleum gas department of Turkey's聽energy market watchdog, proposed that EMRA administer service competence certification to petrol聽stations in Turkey.

Turkish Standards Institution gives service competency聽certificates to petrol stations but EMRA has never made it a requirement for obtaining a license to operate a petrol station.聽

"Service quality is really important in this sector. There are lots of companies in the LPG market and also there are companies who want to expand. Turkish customers attach great importance to the quality of service. That鈥檚 why corporate companies should help others enhance the service quality,"聽Sanli said.

He also added EMRA supports聽Turkey鈥檚 energy strategic plan聽to deliver聽liquefied petroleum gas,LPG, to cities without natural gas.

"EMRA has a plan to use LPG in schools located in the聽countryside. We got support from the Ministry of Family and Social Policies, the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Health. They are all waiting on the players in the LPG market to apply the project,"聽he added.

Turkey鈥檚 Energy and Natural Resources Ministry plans to deliver LPG to eleven cities out of its eighty-one by 2016, according to Turkey鈥檚 2015-2019 Energy Strategic Plan, which was announced in December 2014.
