Skangas, a subsidiary of the Finnish natural gas company Gasum, and Norwegian energy company Lyse Energi signed a deal for the sale of the Risavika LNG production plant in Norway, Gasum reported on Thursday.
鈥淯nder the tolling agreement signed in 2014, we have bought the full annual capacity of the Risavika LNG plant. The acquisition of the plant puts the final pieces in place in the overall acquisition of Skangas. This acquisition is part of our LNG business development and further strengthens our position as the leading LNG player in the Nordic market,鈥 said Gasum CEO Johanna Lamminen.
Skangas will also acquire the LNG marine bunkering facility of Lyse Energi in accordance with the deal.
The Risavika production plant has a capacity of 300,000 tons of liquefied natural gas (LNG) per annum, according to the agreement.
鈥淭he acquisition will strengthen our position in the growing LNG market, increase our overall storage capacity and improve our current and future customers鈥 access to LNG under long-term and competitive conditions,鈥 stated Tor Morten Osmundsen, CEO of Skangas.
Gasum is Finland鈥檚 state-owned transmission system operator of the natural gas grid. Its operations include natural gas imports, transmission, distribution and sales. The company also produces biogas.
