Swedegas has inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Kanfer Shipping on Tuesday for cooperation on the transfer of liquefied natural gas (LNG) and the construction of storage facilities in the Gavle region in Northern Sweden, according to Swedegas.
"We are looking to invest in the most efficient solution. This concept is favorable from an operating cost point of view, which will benefit customers in the region," stated Vice President of Swedegas Johan Zettergren.
The company aims to support Sweden鈥檚 non-carbon energy policy and to increase the region鈥檚 biogas production through the new infrastructure of a regional natural gas network and a new LNG terminal.
Furthermore, Kanfer Shipping has voiced its interest in enhancing its presence in the Swedish market.
"We are extremely pleased with the confidence Swedegas has shown in us and we are looking forward to being involved in the project in the future. The aim is to work together over the next year to have a complete gas infrastructure solution in place," said Stig Anders Hagen, Kanfer Shipping鈥檚 managing partner.
Sweden鈥檚 Swedegas AB is an infrastructure company and its investments focus on smart energy systems. The company manages the gas transmission grid from Dragor in Denmark to Stenungsund in Sweden.
Norwegian Kanfer Shipping Company focuses on small-scale LNG distribution, floating storage facilities and terminal services.
