Turkey's use of alternative clean fuel in the form of聽liquefied petroleum gas,聽LPG, in the聽car industry, is聽a good example for聽other countries, according to聽Mustafa Yilmaz,聽head of聽Turkish Energy Market Regulatory Authority on Monday.
According to Yilmaz,聽LPG meets more than 4 percent of Turkey's energy needs. He聽stated that Turkey consumes around 3.7 million tonnes of LPG per year making the country an important LPG market.
"In Turkey we have 4.2 million cars which run on LPG. After South Korea we are the second biggest聽user of聽LPG cars in the world," he said.
"Thanks to LPG cars, Turkey's carbon emissions have decreased by 1.2 million tonnes," he said regarding the car industry which has seen a huge increase over the past few years.
He added that the LPG market has created substantial employment opportunities with聽more than 10 thousand stations and 8 thousand bottled gas sub-dealers.
