Africa Oil and Power Conference, a two-day international energy conference to gather international and African energy players, started Monday in Cape Town, the northern capital of South Africa.
The event, where Anadolu Agency is the global communications partner, draws ministers, senior level government officials and top executives of private sector companies involved in the entire value chain, including upstream, downstream, power generation and legal and finance.
The participants will be given the chance to pose questions to energy ministers and private company heads and also to enlarge their network of energy industry experts.
The event will hold discussions on a multitude of issues concerning Africa's electricity landscape and energy in general.
The panel topics include oil and gas exploration and investment opportunities, the market environment during low oil prices, upstream and downstream sectors and energy policy and regulations.
"South Africa has a large energy-intensive coal mining industry. The country has limited proved reserves of oil and natural gas and uses its large coal deposits to meet most of its energy needs, particularly in the electricity sector," according to U.S. Energy Information Administration.
