- Wind farm is anticipated to be Baltics biggest with 100 mw capacity, and 1st installation phase is due by end 2016

Estonian energy company Eleon has started building the first 'Made in Estonia' wind power farm at Aidu, in the northeast of the country, Estonian Wind Power Association announced on Thursday.

The company's 165 million wind farm will consist of 30 turbines with a total capacity of 100 megawatt and is destined to be the biggest in the Baltic region. The first phase of the farm will be completed by the end of this year.

"It will be not just the biggest wind farm in the Baltics but a reference farm that will create the preconditions for the development of a fully-fledged wind technology sector in Estonia," Andres Sonajalg, Eleon board chairman was quoted as saying by Estonian Wind Power Association.

"Let me underscore that the goal is to sell technology to other countries, the same innovative Eleon wind turbines that are used in this park," Sonajalg added.

The Estonian company plans to employ 1,200 to 1,400 people in northeastern Estonia by 2020.

With the project, 30 large three megawatt wind generators will be installed in a three phase process each with 10 generators.
