The European Parliament’s (EP) Foreign Affairs Committee will discuss the rule of law and human rights situation in Turkey following the failed coup attempt. MEPs are also set to discuss the country's recent rapprochement to Russia and its military presence in Syria on Tuesday.
- Emissions scandal
The EP’s inquiry committee on emissions measurement in the automotive sector will hear former Commissioner for Enterprise and Industry, Gunter Verheugen, as well as from automotive emissions reduction systems supplier Faurecia on Tuesday.
- Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA)
MEPs will debate the approval of the newly negotiated Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement between the EU and Canada on Wednesday. CETA needs the EP’s approval to begin it enforcement.
- 2017 EU budget
On Wednesday, the EP’S various committees will start voting on amendments to the 2017 EU budget, feeding into the position the Budgets Committee will lay down next month.
- EP President’s visit to Turkey
European Parliament President Martin Schulz will pay a visit to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Ankara on Thursday to discuss EU Turkey relations in the post July 15 coup attempt era.Â
