EU's Education, Youth, Culture and Sports Council will meet in Brussels on Monday and Tuesday. Ministers will discuss the role of young Europeans in a modern European Union. The Council will adopt a resolution on a new skills agenda and will also adopt conclusions on the prevention of radicalization leading to violent extremism.
The European Parliament’s plenary session and committee meetings will take place in Strasbourg this week.
MEPs will discuss low and geographically uneven growth in the euro area, low inflation rates and the lack of investment in the real economy with European Central Bank President Mario Draghi on Monday evening. A resolution will be voted on Tuesday.
ÌýEU-Turkey relations will also be an important subject.Ìý The question of whether EU accession talks with Turkey should be frozen or made subject to further conditions will be debated with EU Foreign Policy Chief Federica Mogherini and MEP’s on Tuesday. A resolution on the subject will be voted on Thursday.
Commission Vice-President Valdis Dombrovskis will outline key EU economic priorities for 2017 and report on the member states� yearly European Semester economic policy coordination work. MEPs want the EU Commission to prioritize investment in innovation, growth and job creation, advocate socially-balanced structural reform and encourage responsible public finances. Debate will take place on Tuesday.
Donald Tusk, president of the European Council will host the 18th EU-Ukraine summit in Brussels on Thursday.Ìý He will represent the EU together with Jean-Claude Juncker, the president of the European Commission and President Petro Poroshenko will represent Ukraine. The leaders will discuss EU-Ukraine relations including: visa liberalization implementation of the Minsk agreements, the agenda of reforms and anti-corruption measures in Ukraine.
