French President Emmanuel Macron on Tuesday welcomed US President Donald Trump's Israel-Iran ceasefire announcement and warned that the situation remains "very fragile."

"I think it is a very good thing that President Trump has called for a ceasefire. That’s what we’ve been advocating from the beginning. So, I think those were important and entirely positive statements, calling on everyone to return to the negotiating table and for the fighting to stop," Macron told reporters before ending his two-day Norway trip.

He warned that the situation remains "very fragile" and urged everyone to follow it "very closely" and exert the "greatest possible pressure" to end the fighting and resume the discussions.

When asked about his concerns over the "clandestine enrichment" of Iranian uranium, Macron noted that the risk "increased," and reaffirmed that he will see the chief of the International Atomic Energy Agency.

Macron also said that he will discuss the situation with Trump.

"Beyond what is happening with Iran, I repeat here the necessity of achieving a ceasefire in Gaza and resuming humanitarian aid in Gaza. This is absolutely a priority," the French president further stressed.
