Iran's foreign minister says regional conditions require closer consultations with Russia
‘America's attack is an attack and aggression that must be unequivocally condemned, Abbas Araghchi says upon arriving in Moscow

ISTANBUL
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi arrived in Moscow on Sunday for high-level talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin following recent US and Israeli military strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities.
Araghchi said he will discuss confronting common challenges and threats with Putin, especially after recent developments, Tasnim news agency reported early Monday.
He emphasized that the current conditions in the region require "closer, more precise and serious" consultations between Iran and Russia.
Referring to his upcoming meeting with Putin, Araghchi said "we will have serious and important talks which I am confident will be in the interests of both countries."
The top Iranian diplomat's arrival was also reported by Russian state news agency TASS, which said he appreciated Moscow’s stance on condemning the US strikes on its territory.
“America's attack is an attack and aggression that must be unequivocally condemned. We appreciate Russia's position, which on Sunday condemned this aggression in the strongest possible terms,” Araghchi was quoted as saying.
Araghchi said Iran attaches great importance to its consultations with Russia “in the current new dangerous circumstances."
He said the US attack on Iran's nuclear facilities has called into question the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons, and will have negative consequences for international security.
“The actions (of Israel and the US) have serious consequences and create problems not only for Iran, but also for the region, for the international community, and for international law,” he added.
Israel and Iran have been engaged in aerial combat since June 13 when Tel Aviv launched a surprise attack on several sites across Iran, including military and nuclear facilities, prompting Tehran to launch retaliatory strikes. The US attacked three Iranian nuclear sites on Sunday, saying they were completely obliterated.
