Israel’s plan for humanitarian aid distribution in Gaza aims to turn the territory’s north into a “completely depopulated area,” Israel’s Army Radio said on Tuesday.

Doron Kadosh, the radio’s military reporter, said the Israeli army is building four aid distribution centers via US firms in Rafah in southern Gaza, the Morag Axis that separates Rafah and Khan Younis, and the Netzarim Corridor that separates Gaza’s north from the south.

The center in the Netzarim Corridor will be built on Salah al-Din Street, and “anyone coming from the north to the distribution center in the Netzarim Corridor will not be able to return to the north of the corridor,” Kadosh said.

“It will be a one-way ticket, which forces Gazans to go down to the south of the Netzarim Corridor if they want to get the food,” he added.

The Israeli reporter said that despite dozens of evacuation notices, 200,000-300,000 Palestinians remained in northern Gaza, refusing to move to the south of the Netzarim Corridor.

"This time, Israel believes that this plan will leave Gaza residents no other choice and will force them to evacuate the south," Kadosh said.

The US-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation earlier said it will establish four centers for humanitarian aid distribution in Gaza in the upcoming days.

On Sunday, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz said Israel is coordinating with a US firm to distribute humanitarian aid in Gaza, adding that the aid distribution may start on May 24.

Since March 2, Israel has kept Gaza crossings closed to food, medical, and humanitarian aid, deepening an already severe humanitarian crisis in the enclave, according to government, human rights, and international reports.

According to the UN agency for Palestinian refugees, hundreds of thousands of Palestinians eat only one meal every two or three days amid Israel’s crippling blockade.

Earlier this month, Israel’s Security Cabinet approved an aid delivery plan for the Palestinians in Gaza through private US security contractors based on handing over aid boxes to individuals.

The Israeli plan, however, has been rejected by the UN and dozens of international aid groups, saying it runs against humanitarian principles, is logistically unworkable, and could put Palestinian civilians and staffers in harm’s way.

The Palestinian resistance group Hamas also decried the Israeli plan as "political blackmail" and "a violation of international law."

Nearly 2.4 million people in Gaza live completely dependent on humanitarian aid, according to World Bank data.

Rejecting international calls for a ceasefire, the Israeli army has pursued a brutal offensive against Gaza since October 2023, killing nearly 53,500 Palestinians, most of them women and children.

Last November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.

Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on the enclave.
