ANKARA / ISTANBUL

The Israeli army killed at least 79 Palestinians in airstrikes Wednesday on homes across the Gaza Strip, medics said.

The army killed five Palestinians in a strike targeting a gathering of civilians in the town of Jabalia shortly after issuing a warning to evacuate large areas of northern Gaza.

It also killed two young girls and a woman in an airstrike on the Al-Nadar family home in the Jabalia al-Balad area of northern Gaza.

Earlier, a Palestinian was killed in an Israeli strike on Al-Mansoura Street in the Shejaiya neighborhood east of Gaza City.

The army killed seven Palestinians, including children, by dropping bombs on two homes in Khan Younis in the south and Jabalia in the north of Gaza.

Four Palestinians were also killed in a drone strike on an animal-drawn cart near the European Gaza Hospital east of Khan Younis.

A medical source told Anadolu that 12 Palestinians lost their lives when fighter jets struck two homes in Jabalia.

Seven more people were killed in a drone strike targeting a group of civilians in the same town, the source said.

Medics said another drone strike left six Palestinians dead in Gaza City.

Five others were killed, including three children, and 10 were injured in an Israeli airstrike on another home in Deir al-Balah city in central Gaza, another medical source said.

Two children were also killed in another strike on the Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza, Al-Awda Hospital said in a statement.

In the southern Gaza Strip, four Palestinians were killed in an Israeli airstrike on a home in the town of Abasan in the southern city of Khan Younis, while three others were killed in an attack on a home in the city's southern Maen area.

A medical source said the bodies of 15 people were removed from the rubble of homes struck by the Israeli army in areas across the enclave.

A drone strike targeting a gathering of civilians killed three Palestinians in the Al-Amal neighborhood west of Khan Younis, while two others were killed in a strike on a bakery in the Batn Al-Samin area in the city center.

Meanwhile, the Israeli army continued its operation of blowing up homes and buildings in the western part of the northern town of Beit Lahia.

In another development, the administration of Al-Awda Hospital in Tel al-Zaatar in the Jabalia refugee camp announced that Israeli artillery shelling targeted the hospital’s third floor, without providing details on the extent of the damage or whether there were any casualties.

On Sunday, the Israeli army launched a broad ground offensive in the Gaza Strip.

The army has pursued a brutal offensive against Gaza since October 2023, killing nearly 53,700 Palestinians, most of them women and children.

The International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants last November for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.

Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on the enclave.
