Israel intercepted a suspicious aerial target launched into its territory early Saturday, the Israeli army announced amid escalating tensions with Iran.

"Following an alert that was activated at 00:15 in the Eilat area, the Air Force intercepted a suspicious aerial target that was launched into Israeli territory," the army said on X.

The military said that alerts were activated with the “intrusion of a hostile aircraft” into the Eilat area, with details under examination.

A separate incident involving another suspicious aerial target occurred simultaneously in the Arava region, the Israeli army said.

"Sirens sounding in the area of the Negev due to the infiltration of hostile aircraft," it added.

The military said the Air Force intercepted the two suspicious aerial targets.

In a separate post, the Israeli army said a Navy missile ship intercepted five drones launched from Iran.

The incidents followed Israel's military operation against Iran on Friday, targeting Tehran's nuclear program and long-range missile capabilities.

Iran responded by launching "Operation True Promise III" against Israel.
