At least 10 people have been killed in a flash flood and landslide in Indonesia's West Papua province, with another 10 missing as rescue efforts in the affected areas were halted on Wednesday due to heavy rains.

Six of the victims have been identified, while the rest remain unidentified in the province, state-run Antara news agency reported on Wednesday, citing the National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas).

The disasters struck Catubouw in the Arfak Mountains district on Friday night.

"We discovered one victim on the fifth day of our search and rescue operation, adding to the nine victims that had been evacuated earlier," said Yefri Sabaruddin, head of the agency's Manokwari Office.

Due to heavy rain, search and rescue efforts were halted on the fifth day, on Wednesday, but they will resume on Thursday to locate the remaining 10 people who have been reported missing.

"In total, the disasters affected 24 people, with 4 survivors, 10 found dead, and 10 others still missing," said Sabaruddin.
