Prosecutors seek fresh arrest warrant for South Korea's ousted President Yoon

ISTANBUL

South Korean prosecutors on Tuesday sought a fresh arrest warrant for South Korea's ousted President Yoon Suk Yeol.

Special Prosecutor Cho Eun-seok, who is investigating Yoon's martial law decree on Dec. 3, requested an arrest warrant for Yoon for obstructing duties, Seoul-based Yonhap News reported.

The prosecution said that Yoon failed to respond to the police summons twice.

Yoon was ousted from the presidential office over his failed bid to impose martial law.

Yoon was arrested and indicted for abuse of power and leading an insurrection in January, making him the first sitting president to be kept in custody. He was released from prison in March after a Seoul district court canceled his arrest and allowed him to stand trial without being physically detained.
