The German Nordex Group will supply Oslo-based Statkraft seven of their 3.3-megawatt (MW) N100/3300 turbines for a 23.1 MW wind farm project in southwest Ireland, Nordex confirmed Thursday.
The Kilathmoy wind farm, which is being built in Kerry near the border with Limerick, is the Norwegian company's first investment in the Irish wind market, according to a statement from Nordex.
Work is about to start on the infrastructure at the wind farm, and the first of the turbines will be installed in the summer of 2019 with plans to have the farm fully operational at the end of next year, the company said.
Patxi Landa, chief sales officer at Nordex SE, said they were delighted to be working with Statkraft on their first project in the Irish market.Â
"We look forward to successful collaboration on this project and we hope it is the first of many opportunities to work together as Statkraft continues to grow their presence both in Ireland and further afield," he added.
According to the statement, the Nordex Group previously worked with Statkraft on the 52.5 MW Baillie wind farm in Scotland, supplying 21 N90/2500 wind turbines for the facility.
