ISTANBUL
Azerbaijan "categorically rejected" allegations on Friday that Baku has been recruiting ethnic Azerbaijanis as spies and employing them in Iran for Israel, said the country's presidential aide.
"Certain media and social media accounts have recently circulated entirely unfounded and fabricated claims suggesting that Azerbaijan has recruited ethnic Azerbaijanis as agents and deployed them into Iran on behalf of Israel," Hikmet Hajiyev said on X.
Calling the claims "absurd and fantasy-driven," Hajiyev said they are completely disconnected from reality and amount to intentional misinformation.
"We categorically reject such fake news and baseless accusations," he added.
