The departmental council of Seine-Saint-Denis, a district in the Paris metropolitan area, called on Thursday for Israel to be banned from participating in the upcoming Paris Air Show, set to take place from June 16 to 22 in Le Bourget.

Stephane Troussel, president of the Seine-Saint-Denis Council, announced on X that he will not attend the protocol opening of the event, which is expected to be inaugurated by French President Emmanuel Macron and Prime Minister Francois Bayrou.

Troussel voiced strong opposition to the presence of Israeli firms at the exhibition, stating: “We cannot roll out the red carpet to a state accused by the International Criminal Court of actions that may amount to genocide, while at the same time claiming to be committed to human rights.”

He confirmed that the council had adopted a resolution during its session, calling on France to officially recognize the State of Palestine, exclude Israel from the Paris Air Show, demand an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, and ensure unhindered humanitarian access to the besieged enclave.

“We will continue to support our twin cities in Palestine and contribute to the reconstruction of the region,” Troussel said, stressing that “remaining silent and indifferent is no longer an option.”

According to the French daily 20 Minutes, the resolution was adopted unanimously by the council members.

The 55th edition of the Paris Air Show, one of the world’s largest aerospace events, will bring together companies from around the globe and is scheduled to run from June 16 to 22 in Le Bourget, located in the Seine-Saint-Denis department just outside the French capital.
