Moldovan Prime Minister Dorin Recean said Wednesday his country wants to open all EU accession negotiation chapters by the end of 2025.
"Our goal is very clear. We aim to open all negotiation chapters by the end of the year," he said at a news conference following a EU-Moldova Association Council meeting in Brussels.
Recean stressed that Moldova's commitment to the European path is backed by the Constitution and sustained by broad public support.
EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas welcomed Moldova's progress on democratic reforms and anti-corruption efforts, reaffirming the EU’s backing amid Russian interference.
European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos confirmed that three screening reports have been shared with member states and expressed support for opening all clusters in parallel by the end of the year.
Both sides expressed anticipation for the first-ever EU-Moldova summit, set for July. The summit aims to deepen cooperation in energy, digital services, education and connectivity.
Moldova submitted its application for EU membership on March 3, 2022. It officially gained candidate status later that year in June.
