Switzerland calls for independent probe into civilian deaths near Gaza aid sites
Foreign Ministry warns militarized aid undermines humanitarian norms, urges safe access for relief groups

GENEVA
Switzerland on Wednesday called for independent investigations into reports of civilian deaths near Gaza aid distribution points, voicing alarm over the safety of humanitarian operations in conflict areas.
Bern "is deeply concerned by reports of civilian deaths near aid distribution points," the Swiss Foreign Ministry said on X, adding: "We call for independent investigations and recall that militarised aid undermines humanitarian principles and international norms."
The ministry stressed the importance of ensuring “rapid, safe and unimpeded access for principled humanitarian actors."
The statement follows a series of deadly incidents around humanitarian aid delivery sites run by Israel- and US-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation.
The attacks prompted growing international concern over the conduct of aid operations in the war-torn region.
