Israeli forces shot and killed a Palestinian man Saturday and wounded two others at the Meitar-Tarqumiya crossing near Hebron in the southern occupied West Bank, the Palestinian Red Crescent Society reported.
The humanitarian organization confirmed the casualties but did not provide details about the circumstances of the shooting.
The official Palestinian news agency, Wafa, citing unnamed medical, local, and security sources, reported that the deceased was a young man whose identity had not yet been confirmed. The wounded individuals were from the town of Idhna in western Hebron, and sustained moderate injuries.
Israeli forces fired live bullets at the three men near the separation barrier in al-Dhahiriya in southern Hebron, the agency said.
Separately, Israeli forces injured multiple Palestinians and caused widespread disruption during raids on cities and towns across the occupied territory, according to the Palestinian Red Crescent and Wafa.
In the village of Azzaba Shufa in southeast Tulkarem, a Palestinian man was shot in the thigh with live fire during an Israeli military incursion, the Palestinian Red Crescent Society said in a statement. He was transported to a hospital for treatment.
Elsewhere, six Palestinians suffered tear gas inhalation during confrontations with Israeli troops in Tubas in the northern West Bank, Wafa reported, citing medical sources. Red Crescent crews treated the cases at the site.
In the northern town of Qabalan near Nablus, Israeli forces stormed the area and fired sound grenades and tear gas toward residents and homes, the agency said.
Israeli troops also raided the town of Attil in northern Tulkarem, where military vehicles blocked roads and restricted the movement of residents. Ground forces stormed several shops, detained workers and interrogated them without reporting any arrests, according to Wafa.
Since the start of Israel’s assault on Gaza on Oct. 7, 2023, at least 974 Palestinians have been killed and more than 7,000 injured in the West Bank by Israeli forces and settlers, the Palestinian Health Ministry said.
In a landmark opinion last July, the International Court of Justice declared Israel’s occupation of Palestinian territory illegal and called for the evacuation of all settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.
