China slammed the Group of Seven (G7) on Wednesday for "manipulating" Beijing-related issues, urging it to stop interfering in its internal affairs.

Speaking to reporters at a daily news conference, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun said the G7 summit chair's summary once again "manipulated" China-related issues, making unwarranted remarks about Taiwan, the South China Sea, and the East China Sea, as well as "maliciously slandering China over so-called market distortions and industrial overcapacity," according to Global Times.

“These actions constitute interference in China’s internal affairs and violate the basic norms of international relations. China strongly opposes them and has lodged stern representations with the relevant parties,” the spokesperson said.

He urged the G7 countries to recognize the prevailing trend of global development and "abandon Cold War mentality and ideological bias."

In its summit chair’s summary, the G7 called on China to refrain from "market distortions and harmful overcapacity, tackle global challenges, and promote international peace and security."

They also accused China of destabilizing activities in the East and South China Seas.

Guo responded to European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen's criticism of China over export restrictions on critical raw materials during the G7 summit, saying her remarks "disregard facts and are riddled with bias and double standards."

"The so-called overcapacity narrative is essentially due to related countries' concerns about their competitiveness and market share, using it as an excuse to implement protectionist measures; what is truly excessive is the anxiety," said Guo.

He added that Beijing is willing to strengthen communication and coordination with the EU and properly handle trade differences.
