China develops 6G electronic warfare weapon system

ISTANBUL

China has developed an electronic warfare weapon utilizing 6G technology that is capable of intercepting signals and generating 3,600 false targets.

The system, which uses a next-generation signal processing mechanism, can be both used as a ground-based jammer and a communication device that can receive or transmit large amounts of battlefield data simultaneously to more than 300 cooperative platforms via optic fibers extremely fast, the South China Morning Post reported on Tuesday.

The F-35 stealth fighter's radar, Northrop Grumman AN/APG-85, reportedly operates in the X-band, up to 12 gigahertz frequency, which leaves traditional electronic countermeasures obsolete.

The novel Chinese system's photon-powered core can produce false targets to confound enemy pilots at 12 gigahertz or higher, the media outlet said, citing researchers of the project.

This development marks the world’s first publicly confirmed "simultaneous same-frequency full-duplex communication and jamming capabilities" system, reported the media outlet.

China currently holds most of the 6G patents in the world.

The next generation of wireless technology, 6G, is designed to be much faster than 5G, with speeds over a terabit per second and extremely low latency of just 100 microseconds.
