China and Indonesia on Sunday inked a string of cooperation agreements in trade, investment, tourism, and agricultural products, Chinese media reported.

The agreements were signed following Chinese Premier Li Qiang's meeting with Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto in Jakarta, the Beijing-based Xinhua News reported.

The two sides also signed a number of memoranda of understanding in the fields of tourism, exports of agricultural products, traditional medicine, investment, strategic commerce, and media.

Li is on a three-day official visit to Indonesia, the Southeast Asia's largest economy.

It is the first stop of his maiden overseas visit this year.

Earlier, Li met with Prabowo to discuss ways to enhance trade and investment amid the US' global trade war and impending economic challenges.

Li, according to Xinhua News, said that China stands ready to join Indonesia to address risks and challenges, and consolidate cooperation in the "five pillars" of politics, economy, people-to-people and cultural exchange, maritime affairs and security.

Li also said China is willing to work with Indonesia to enhance alignment of development strategies, and deepen high-quality Belt and Road cooperation.

Prabowo, for his part, hailed his country's deepening ties with China as "a pillar of peace and prosperity" in Southeast Asia.

Indonesia will continue to support and accelerate the completion of Code of Conduct negotiations that aim to manage tensions and prevent conflict in the South China Sea, he added.

He dubbed China as “a decisive partner in this effort.”

Several ASEAN member states have overlapping territorial claims with China in the disputed South China Sea.
