The Russia-Islamic World: KazanForum 2025 is underway in Kazan, the capital of Tatarstan, covering a broad range of topics including science, technology, Islamic finance, halal food, artificial intelligence, media, sports and tourism.

Speaking at the opening, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov said the forum has become a vital platform for strengthening economic, social and cultural ties between Russia and the Islamic world.

He described the forum as a unique platform that brings together public institutions, international organizations, financial institutions, diplomatic missions, investors, business leaders and executives from both Russian and international companies.

Highlighting the significance of Russia Halal Expo 2025, held as part of the forum, Minnikhanov said the event showcases a wide range of sectors— including food and nutrition, healthcare, cosmetics, fashion and beauty, tourism and hospitality, wholesale and retail trade, and finance and investment.

He added that KazanForum aims to promote cultural exchange and innovation while encouraging the adoption of best practices in the halal industry and will have sessions addressing technologies and sustainable development in addition to a wide range of topics from Islamic finance to AI, media, sports and tourism.

Following his speech, Minnikhanov toured the exhibition area, including the Türkiye pavilion, where he was welcomed by Turkish Deputy Trade Minister Mahmut Gurcan, Deputy Industry and Technology Minister Muhammet Kasım Gonullu, and other members of the Turkish delegation.

The 16th edition of KazanForum runs through May 18 and focuses on strengthening economic and social cooperation between Russia and the Islamic world. Anadolu is serving as the forum’s global communications partner.

Last year’s edition attracted more than 20,500 participants from 87 countries.
