Three employees were killed, while seven others were wounded due to an explosion at an oil field, in northern Iraqi city of Kirkuk, said an Iraqi official on Monday.
The explosion occurred at Bay Hassan oil field in the northwest of Kirkuk.
Necat Huseyin, a member of Kirkuk Provincial Council Member Energy Commission, told Anadolu Agency that three workers lost their lives in the explosion due to the high pressure while the oil tank was being repaired in the storage tank.
He said that the seven聽wounded were transferred to the nearest health center.
The police force started an investigation at the scene, he said.
The Kurdish Regional Government (KRG) has controlled聽the Bay Hassan oil field since June 2014.
The field produces around 200 thousand barrels of crude oil per day.
