Iran says 5th round of nuclear talks with US to take place ‘soon
Iran, US have been engaged in Oman-mediated nuclear talks since last month

TEHRAN, Iran
Iran’s foreign minister said Sunday that the next round of indirect nuclear negotiations between Tehran and Washington is expected to take place soon.
Abbas Araghchi, speaking to reporters after a meeting with his Omani counterpart, Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, said the time and location of the fifth round of talks between Iran and the US would be officially announced by Oman.
The most recent round of talks was held in Muscat on Sunday, where the two sides reportedly addressed “contentious” issues, according to Iran’s Foreign Ministry.
Araghchi said he held “very good discussions” with the Omani foreign minister on “regional issues, bilateral relations, and the ongoing talks with the US.”
He said the two sides reviewed the latest developments and that the next round of negotiations would be arranged soon and announced formally by the Omani mediators.
The top diplomat reiterated that Tehran has not received any formal written proposal from the US, rejecting claims made earlier by US President Donald Trump.
On Friday, Trump warned that Iran would face “something bad” if it did not quickly accept a US proposal regarding its nuclear program.
In response, Araghchi said Tehran has not received any written proposal from the US, either directly or indirectly, describing the messaging as “confusing and contradictory.”
Tensions remain high as diplomatic engagement between the two countries continues under Omani mediation.
Disagreements over uranium enrichment remain a key sticking point. According to reports, Washington has demanded a complete halt to Iran’s enrichment activities, while Tehran insists the issue is “non-negotiable.”
In an interview with NBC earlier this week, Ali Shamkhani, a senior adviser to Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, said that Iran would never seek to build a nuclear weapon and would be willing to ship out its enriched uranium, provided the US lifts all sanctions.
