A senior official at Turkish Petroleum Pipeline Corporation (BOTAS) has been elected to the Executive Committee of the International Gas Union (IGU), the organization's highest decision-making body, Turkish energy company said late Friday.
Oguzhan Oguz, head of the External Relations and International Projects Department, is among six new members selected through a vote involving more than 60 member countries, BOTAS said in a statement.
The newly elected committee members will officially assume their roles following the World Gas Conference, scheduled to be held in China from May 19 to 23.
BOTAS emphasized that this appointment will support the stronger global representation of Türkiye's strategic energy vision and contribute to strengthening the organization's international profile.
Founded in 1931, the IGU is regarded as one of the most prestigious institutions in the global energy sector, representing over 150 members from more than 80 countries. The organization seeks to promote natural gas as a sustainable, secure, and accessible energy source.
