Turkiye's energy import bill increased by 181.8% to $7.76 billion in February compared to the same month of 2021, according to data released by the Turkish Statistical Institute on Thursday.
The overall energy import bill soared last month due to an increase in global energy prices.
The data shows that Turkey's overall import bill, including energy and other items, totaled $27.88 billion in February, with energy accounting for 27.8% of the overall import figures.鈥�
Turkey imported 2.34 million tons of crude oil last month, up from 1.56 million tons in February 2021.
The country's crude oil imports showed a 49.6% increase compared to February 2021.
