Turkey's daily electricity consumption increased by 0.91% to 1,145,778 megawatt-hours on Wednesday compared to the previous day, breaking the previous record high set on August 3, according to official figures of the Turkish Electricity Transmission Corporation (TEIAS) on Thursday.
As electricity demand increases with rising temperatures throughout the country, a new record high was set on Tuesday of 1,135,427 megawatt-hours.
Hourly power consumption peaked at 55,421 megawatt-hours at 15.00 local time (1200 GMT), data from TEIAS showed. The country's electricity usage dropped to its lowest level of 38,079 megawatt-hours at 07.00 local time (0400 GMT).
Electricity production amounted to 1,143,711 megawatt-hours on Tuesday, marking a 4.87% increase from Monday.
Turkey's electricity production from natural gas plants constituted 36.2% of total electricity consumption, hydropower plants contributed 19.7% while imported coal powerplants comprised 15.2%.
On Wednesday, Turkey's electricity exports amounted to 14,683 megawatt-hours, while imports totaled 4,898 megawatt-hours.
