Turkey's daily electricity consumption increased by 16.8% on Monday compared to the previous day, totaling 885,000 megawatt-hours, according to official figures of Turkish Electricity Transmission Corporation (TEIAS) on Tuesday.
Hourly power consumption peaked at 43,724 megawatt-hours at 19.00 local time (1600 GMT), data from TEIAS showed. The country's electricity usage dropped to the lowest level of 28,491 megawatt-hours at 04.00 local time (0100 GMT).
Electricity production amounted to 911,482 megawatt-hours on Monday, marking an 18% increase compared to Sunday.
Turkey's electricity production from natural gas plants constituted 31% of total electricity consumption, imported coal plants contributed 20.5% while lignite plants comprised 14%.
On Monday, Turkey's electricity exports amounted to 13,338 megawatt-hours and imports totaled 16,338 megawatt-hours.
